Platform & headset support

Which headsets, computers and software versions HEXR is validated on, and how sure each answer is.

What com.microtube.hexr and the Python library run on, as of 11 October 2026. Each row says how sure it is:

StatusMeans
ValidatedA working project or test exists for it, named in the Evidence column
ConfirmedMicrotube has confirmed it works, but there is no public project for it here
Not validatedIt may work, but nobody has tested it. Treat it as unsupported
Not supportedThe code cannot do it

“Validated” means a project ran on that hardware. Compiling is a separate, weaker check: Software versions says which package release each project was run with, and which releases have only been compiled and unit-tested.

DeviceStatusHow it connectsEvidence
Meta Quest 2, Quest 3ValidatedUnity package; Meta OVR or OpenXRThe Meta tutorial project targets both
Meta Quest 3SConfirmedUnity package; Meta OVR or OpenXRThe Meta tutorial does not list Quest 3S among its target devices; add it in your own project’s Meta settings
PICO 4, PICO 4 Ultra — consumer and EnterpriseValidated on PICO 4; confirmed on the othersUnity package; OpenXR with PICO’s OpenXR pluginThe PICO tutorial project, and on-device fixes for PICO 4 in the package
Microsoft HoloLensConfirmed, through a separate integrationNot the Unity package: the older MRTK tutorial carries its own copy of the earlier HaptGlove pluginThe MRTK tutorial ↗, Unity 2022.3 and MRTK3. Which HoloLens model it targets is not stated in the project
Leap Motion (Ultraleap)Confirmed, through a separate integrationNot the Unity package: a separate Windows project with the earlier HaptGlove pluginAsk us for it
Meta Quest ProNot validated—No project targets it
PICO Neo3Not validated—No project targets it
HTC Vive, SteamVR and other OpenXR headsetsNot validated—The Create HexR Rig menu item names SteamVR, but no project has been tested on it
Hand tracking is the headset’s job

HEXR adds touch; the hand position comes from your headset or tracker. See Working with hand-tracking.
