20 August 2020 · NUS, via Newswise
NUS announced the InfinityGlove on 20 August 2020, and the science-news service Newswise carried the release internationally. It describes ultra-thin microfibre sensors woven into the glove that also serve as its wiring, a 40-gram prototype, eleven inputs mapped so far, and gestures turned into commands almost as fast as pressing a key.
Professor Lim said the team was inspired by the need to control things remotely with nothing but hand gestures. Beyond gaming, the release points to hand rehabilitation made into a game, with clinicians tracking joint movement, and to robotic control. It names Microtube, co-founded by Professor Lim, Dr Yeo Joo Chuan and Dr Yu Longteng, as the company commercialising the glove.
