Nurse Training for Elderly Care

TTSH & SMRT · 2025–2026
Overview

TTSH and SMRT use HEXR to train nurses to feel a virtual patient swallow after eating.

TTSH (Tan Tock Seng Hospital), in collaboration with SMRT, uses HEXR haptic gloves to train nurses in elderly patient care.

In the training scenario, nurses use HEXR to feel a virtual patient avatar swallow after eating — a hands-on way to practise checking swallowing safely and consistently.

This is an independent deployment — the team runs the training themselves, using HEXR's haptic feedback to make the practice realistic and repeatable.

The programme was featured by Singapore's Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong, who tried the HEXR glove himself in his Nurses' Day video celebrating the nursing profession.
